8 Month Update: Curious Kay

Kaylin made 8 months on the 22nd & let's just say as she gets older, life gets more interesting. She's super curious so of course she gets into everything. Being that she is such a busy baby, I am legitimately worn out by the end of the day which is why I typically end up falling asleep when I call myself putting her to bed...not ashamed. Lucky for me, putting her to bed has never been an issue. It doesn't matter what's happening or where she's at, you can count on her to fall asleep by 8PM and sleep peacefully through the night. She has started to wake up randomly every now and again, but I just pop her pacifier in her mouth and back to sleep she goes. Now I'm not sure how quickly she would go back to sleep without the pacifier, but that's a battle I am not quiet yet ready for so the pacifier it is for now.

I wish I could say getting her to take naps was as easy as putting her to bed, but it's actually the exact opposite, she basically refuses. Whenever we can get her to nap, it's a very short one, no longer than 20 minutes, anything longer than that is rare and a miracle. If you can offer any napping tips, please shoot them all my way.

Food is a lot more fun for her now since she gets to enjoy solids and she is incredibly greedy. I have now reached the point in Mommyhood where I’m unable to eat my own food in peace. It really doesn't matter who you are, if you have food, you can count on her to lunge for your plate. Her favorite food thus far is mashed potatoes. I'm honestly happy that she eats more solids because that means less formula, which means I save money. I really encourage breast feeding if you're able to, not only will it save you a lot of money, lol, it's healthier, it will help you lose the pregnancy weight and it's super convenient. Those are only a few of the benefits, if you're interested in learning more, here's a helpful article, 20 Breastfeeding Benefits for Mom and Baby I would still be breastfeeding if it wasn't for work, but it caused my my supply to drastically decrease at a time where she was starting to intake a lot more and I couldn't keep up. If you find it difficult to breastfeed, please don't avoid formula. Formula is still a healthy choice for babies and despite what anyone says...FED IS BEST.

At 8 months, Kaylin is now crawling, climbing, flipping and giving me heart attacks as she makes mad dashes for the edge of the bed. She’s able to pull herself up to a standing position as long as she has something to support her. She gives kisses, open mouth, slobbery ones and she also can wave bye bye. She babbles a lot, which she pretty much always has but of course her little babbles are starting to sound more like real words. She says Da-Da and Ma-Ma, but I'm not sure that she associates them with us, just yet. Nonetheless, she is just an absolute joy to be around and I am truly blessed to have such an amazing child.

I know updates are fun to read because it gives insight to how your baby is developing, please just remember that every child grows and develops at their own pace and if you're ever worried, just contact your pediatrician.

I'll try, keyword is try, to do monthly updates on her development, but if you've made it this far, you love me and I appreciate you reading this.
